“The Texas Slav”

Music from Loreta’s nine albums (Fugitive Visions, Piano Notturno, Cantabile, Brother Tadpole, Space Wiggs, Slavic & Western, House of Gilda Haas, Fossil Pop & Piano, and Texas Slav) has been played on the International Space Station.

“Croatian-born Houstonian Loreta Kovacic moves between the classical and pop milieus as fluidly as her fingers dance around the ivories. Her show has a distinct cabaret feel to it, filtered through her larger-than-life personality.” (CultureMap Houston)

She loves performing and collaborating with her brother, Croatian cellist Stanislav Kovacic, Houston producer John Edward Ross and her dedicated theremin player, Joe Parani. She also performs solo, with her piano melodica, and voice.

Musical style of this album is modern and fresh, with excerpts of rap and theatrical speech. Loreta’s songwriting style is a unique mix of a modern pop sound, influenced by “Hamilton”, sprinkled with her classical, Croatian and Texas Slav background.

“Grateful Heart”

This song is on the “Fossil Pop” album and was written during Loreta’s COVID days, in the summer of 2020.

“Calypso Date”

This is a Christmas song from the “Brother Tadpole classics” album. Loreta wrote this song during a wonderful family vacation visiting her aunt and uncle in St Thomas, USVI. This video was a Christmas gift from her animation artist daughter Maya Parani in 2020. ❤️
